Junior Team Trials Complete. New Players Still Welcome
Thank you to everyone who attended our Junior Team Trials for the 2026/27 season at East Norfolk Sixth Form College.
The formal trials are now complete and our coaches have begun placing players into the Development and Performance environments that are right for them.
However, missing the trial date does not mean that a player has missed the opportunity to join Great Yarmouth Basketball Club.
New players are still welcome
New players can join the club throughout the season, subject to suitable session and squad availability.
Players looking for club or team basketball should normally begin in an appropriate GYBC Development session. This gives our coaches an opportunity to meet the player, assess where they are in their development and help identify the most suitable next step.
New players can book one free first GYBC session before deciding whether they would like to continue.
Development basketball
Development sessions provide an environment for players to improve their skills, confidence and understanding of the game.
Players can attend suitable Development sessions on a pay-as-you-go basis if they want to train without joining a team.
Players who want to take part in fixtures may be offered Development Team membership, with regular training and monthly fees.
Performance Teams
Performance Teams are selected squads for players who are ready for regular training, competitive fixtures and a higher level of commitment.
Places depend on player readiness, squad availability and coach assessment. Players should not book directly into a Performance session unless they have been invited by one of our coaches.
Players may move between Development and Performance environments as they improve and as their needs or ambitions change.
Where should younger beginners start?
Children aged 6–11 who are new to basketball, have limited experience or are not yet ready for team basketball will usually be best suited to Coastal Ballers.
Coastal Ballers provides fun, friendly PAYG basketball for primary-age children, with no previous experience required. Sessions are booked separately through the Coastal Ballers website.
Book a free first GYBC session
Players from School Year 4 upwards who are ready for club basketball can register through Coacha and book one free first session.
New players in School Year 7 or above should begin with an appropriate GYBC Development session.
If you are unsure where to start, visit our Sessions page or contact the club before booking. We will be happy to help identify the most appropriate option.
