Four Wins Open 2026/27 Season as New GYBC Season Centre Goes Live
The 2026/27 basketball season is officially underway for Great Yarmouth Basketball Club – and the opening week produced four wins from four games across our Men’s and junior teams.
It has also marked the launch of a major new addition to the GYBC website, with our Season Centre now bringing fixtures, results, league tables and team information together in one place.
A winning opening week
Men’s Norfolk League Division 2 Team
Our Men were the first GYBC team into competitive action, travelling to Wensum Sports Centre on Monday 14 September to face City Silverbacks 2.
A closely fought season opener ended with a 71–66 road victory for Great Yarmouth, getting the senior team off to a winning start.
Junior league basketball followed at the weekend.
The U12s opened their Norfolk Basketball League season at home, welcoming Mildenhall Jets to East Norfolk Sixth Form College. A competitive game went right to the finish, with Great Yarmouth securing a 66–62 victory.
U12 Mixed Norfolk League Team
Our U14 and U16 teams both travelled to City Academy in Norwich for their opening National League fixtures against Norfolk Hoopstars Red.
The U14s recorded an 82–59 win on Saturday, before the U16s completed the opening weekend with a 94–71 victory on Sunday.
That leaves GYBC with four wins from the club’s first four league games of the new season.

There will be plenty of basketball still to come and plenty for every team to continue working on, but it has been an encouraging start after a summer of trials, squad preparation and pre-season training.
A huge thank you also goes to the coaches, officials, table officials, volunteers, parents and supporters who helped make the opening week happen.

Next up
There are another three GYBC games coming up this weekend.
The U14 and U16 teams are both at home against Norwich Eagles on Saturday 26 September, with the U14s tipping at 11:20am and the U16s at 1:20pm at East Norfolk Sixth Form College.
On Sunday, the U12s travel to Alive Lynnsport to face King’s Lynn, tipping at 11:20am.
