Training commitment
Fixtures and travel
Costs
Player expectations
Parent/carer expectations
Next steps after trials
Players will then take part in coach-led drills, skills work and gameplay, giving our coaches the chance to look at players in a team environment.
Performance Teams are for players who are ready to commit to regular training, competitive fixtures and representing Great Yarmouth Basketball Club in a more demanding team environment.
Selection is based on a combination of attitude, effort, coachability, current ability and readiness for the level of competition.
For the 2026/27 season, our junior performance teams are expected to compete in:
PERFORMANCE TEAMS
U12 Mixed - Norfolk Basketball U12 Mixed Regional League
U14 Boys - Basketball England U14 Boys National League East III Conference
U16 Boys - Basketball England U16 Boys National League East I Conference
U18 Men - Norfolk Basketball U18 Men’s League, with the aim of moving towards U18 National League if the group is ready
Where appropriate, players who are not selected for a Performance Team may be offered a place in one of our Development Teams.
Development Teams are for players who are building experience, developing their skills and growing in confidence within the club pathway.
Players may have the opportunity to take part in Norfolk Youth Basketball League (NYBL) or Norfolk League fixtures where appropriate, but Development Team players do not have to play competitive games.
The focus is on training regularly, learning the game, improving confidence and helping each player progress at the right pace.
