Half-term camp roundup - Day 2

U15 & U18 players bring half-term camp to a close

The final day of our half-term basketball camp was a fun one, with 24 members of our U15 and U18 programmes taking part in a full day of skills development, competitions and games.

The morning session included individual skills competitions for shooting, 1v1, and a special GYB Skills Challenge testing dribbling, passing and shooting (mimicking the version held during the NBA All-Star weekend).

The day was rounded off with a 5v5 tournament between four teams consisting of players drafted by team captains throughout the day. The Red team emerged victorious after some fast-paced games before medals were presented to each of the competition winners.

Two major trophies were presented by special guest Claire Harper, head of the basketball programme at the University of East Anglia (UEA) and East Region Women & Girls Officer, who also delivered a talk about the player pathway being developed within the county through junior clubs, academies and UEA.

The ACE award, presented to the participant who best exemplified excellence in their attitude, commitment and effort was won by Freddie.

The BeAST award, presented to the participant who consistently demonstrated excellence across all four areas that make up a performance player; Behaviour, Athleticism, Skill, and Tactical Awareness was won by Robert.

Our next camp will take place during the summer holidays, with details being announced in the next few weeks..!
